CAMBODIA HOLIDAYS FACTFILE

Recommended flight from London: Thai Airways International from London Heathrow to Phnom Penh via Bangkok (see below). If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.

DAY 1 - Arrive Phnom Penh.  City highlights.

Arrive in Cambodia's capital city in the morning.  You will be met outside customs by a representative of World Discovery and taken by private car direct to your centrally-located hotel.  Your Cambodia holiday begins in the afternoon when you take a private guided tour of Phnom Penh.

STAY LONGER IN PHNOM PENH
If you have the time, it is worth extending your stay in Cambodia's capital for a day or two.  There is much to see and do in and around the city [more].

Cambodia Holidays - Ek PhnomDAY 2 - By road to Battambang.  Phnom Sampeu and Ek Phnom temples.

After an early breakfast leave Phnom Penh by road to Battambang (a journey of approximately 4 hours) and check into your hotel.   In the afternoon visit Phnom Sampeu, a hilltop temple complex reached by a flight of 700 steps.  Also visit Ek Phnom, an 11th century Hindu temple (left) built in the reign of Suryavarman I. Overnight in Battambang.
Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 3 - By private boat to Tonle Sap Lake and Siem Reap.

Travel by private boat along the Sanker River to Tonle Sap Lake. Every 90 minutes or so the scenery changes along the way, from a thriving 'extended village' with many stilt homes and fishing nets, to the open plains for the seasonal jute crops, to wetlands providing a natural nursery for fish and birds.  Visit the floating village of Chong Kneas, an entire community built on the waters of Tonle Sap Lake, before reaching Siem Reap, gateway to the incredible temples of Angkor, the foremost archaeological complex in Asia.  Check in to your hotel.
Meals included: Breakfast, picnic lunch.

DAY 4 - The Roluos group of temples.  Angkor Wat.

During the next three days you will enjoy the most comprehensive exploration of this exceptional area, visiting all the major temple groups. This morning you will be shown some of the earliest temples in the Roluos area.  In the afternoon drive to Angkor Wat, the best known of the Angkor sites.
Meals included: Breakfast.

Cambodia Holidays - Ta ProhmDAY 5 - Angkor Thom.  Ta Prohm.

Today you will visit the extensive Royal City of Angkor Thom , at whose centre stands the awesome temple-pyramid of the Bayon. In the afternoon you will also explore the tangled 12th century ruins of Ta Prohm (left), whose ancient stones have been engulfed by roots and tree trunks, revealing the power of nature yet providing an atmospheric and unforgettable spectacle.
Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 7 - Siem Reap.  Depart for home.

Your last day in Siem Reap is at leisure.  If you are still keen on visiting more temples, there is certainly no shortage of them!  We would recommend Preah Khan, a vast temple around whose outer walls, 40 metres apart, are giant carvings of the Hindu deity Garuda, and Neak Prean, which consists of a central pool and four peripheral pools once used for purification rites.  If you wish to do some last minute shopping we highly recommend the excellent Artisans Angkor, whose profits are channelled into local education and welfare projects. We have arranged for you to keep your room for a late check out at 18.00.  In the evening transfer to the airport for your included flight by Bangkok Airways to Bangkok to connect with your onward flight in the early morning.
Meals included: Breakfast.

International and connecting flights.

There are no direct flights to Phnom Penh from the UK. We recommend the services of Thai Airways International from London Heathrow via Bangkok. Flights are daily throughout the year. Current timings (subject to possible change) are as follows:
Heathrow/Bangkok. Depart at 11.50; arrive Bangkok at 06.10 (next day)
Bangkok/Phnom Penh. Depart at 07.45; arrive Phnom Penh at 09.00
Bangkok/Heathrow. Depart at 01.10; arrive Heathrow at 07.15

You can book the flights yourself on the easy-to-use Thai Airways International website, using the 'Multicity' option.  Alternatively World Discovery can book the flights for you (we levy a service charge of £25 per person for this service).
