Phnom Penh Sightseeing
Your half day private tour of Cambodia's capital city begins with a visit to the impressive National Museum, with its extensive collection of statues and artifacts from the Khmer Empire and earlier civilisations. Continue to what is undoubtedly the highlight of your visit to Phnom Penh - the fabulous Royal Palace with its golden roofs, towering spires and beautifully manicured gardens. Built in traditional Khmer style, the complex is surrounded by high crenellated walls painted pale yellow and white, the colours representing respectively the Buddhist and Hindu faiths. At the heart of the palace, within its own walls, is the wonderful Silver Pagoda, so named because of the 5,000 silver tiles (each weighing 1kg) in the floor of the temple. Also on display is the holiest Buddha image in Cambodia, the Emerald Buddha ('Preah Keo).
