Diphlu River Lodge, Kaziranga
Diphlu River Lodge offers the best accommodation at Kaziranga National Park. The position of the lodge is second to none; only the boundary river separates its extensive grounds from the National Park itself, and the jungle views are exceptional.
The lodge offers accommodation for just 24 guests at a time, ensuring an exclusive and serene experience. There are 8 individual cottages and 4 semi-detached cottages. The raised cottages are made of natural materials like bamboo and wood, topped with thatched roofs to blend in with the forest surroundings. Each cottage (below) is air-conditioned and has large beds, a spacious seating area as well as a writing desk, mini-bar and a small fridge topped with an electric kettle accompanied by a complimentary selection of tea and coffee. All bathrooms (shower only) are ensuite with a roomy dressing area and a fitted wardrobe containing a safe. Special care has been taken to make full use of local materials and artefacts. Each individual cottage has a wide folding glass door opening onto a verandah with inviting cane chairs.
Further along the river bank a jetty will enable guests to embark on river trips in dugout canoes, from which they can look out for otters and for buffalo, deer or rhino grazing on the far bank. This riverbank area is also perfect for the barbecues and camp fires that the lodge arranges - or as just another idyllic spot for a sundowner while watching the vivid colours of sunset across the river.
