Reykholt was the home of Snorri Sturluson, Iceland’s greatest saga writer, poet and historian. Today it is still one of Iceland’s main historical and cultural sites. Here you will find two beautiful churches, Snorri’s natural hot pool, Snorralaug, Heimskringla and Snorrastofa, an exhibit of Snorri’s writings which is also a research centre for medieval studies.

Just a few minutes' drive from Reykholt are the waterfalls Hraunfossar and Barnafoss, Europe's most powerful hot spring, Deildatunguhver, and several lava tubes and caves. Reykholt is located in the area called Borgarfjörður in West Iceland, less then 60 minutes' drive from Reykjavík.
