Kanha Earth Lodge
The Kanha Earth Lodge is tucked in a forested area of 16 acres adjoining the buffer zone of Kanha National Park in a small tribal hamlet. There are good chances of viewing a variety of mammals and birds around the lodge itself; the area is untouched by any kind of tourism or development and offers the discerning guest the guarantee of privacy, as well as lovely walks and hiking trails around the lodge.
The lodge has 12 well-designed open-fronted bungalows, each with ensuite bathroom and dressing room and a large open veranda. All bedrooms (below) are air-conditioned and have 100% power back up for the erratic rural electricity supply. The lodge is rustic yet deluxe, built mainly with local stone, logs, baked tiles, tribal artifacts and done up with fine rustic furniture and cotton upholstery.
All meals are served in the dining hall and you will be served a variety of Indian and western meals cooked with locally sourced fresh produce from the neighbouring villages. The lodge takes pride in sourcing all its ingredients fresh from the villages and grinding its own spices.
Other facilities include a well-stocked bar, an outdoor swimming pool (below), a machaan (tree hide), and an eco shop which contributes 25% of its sale proceeds towards conservation activities in Central India.
