Macushla House, Nairobi
Situated in a leafy suburb of Nairobi, Macushla House is an owner-managed guesthouse set amidst lush gardens. It has six bedrooms and is ideal for both couples or families spending the night in the Kenyan capital.
Each of the rooms is individually furnished and has high wooden ceilings, rich curtains on the windows and mosquito nets on the four poster beds. The bright ensuite bathrooms all have a shower over the bath. All the main areas of the Macushla House are ornately furnished - bright colours and patterns abound.
A heavily African themed lounge with zebra print sofa (below left), make for an interesting place to relax and read the small selection of books and magazines, or to have a game of chess. There is another small, cosy lounge with a fireplace and also a bar.
The small restaurant has high-backed, wrought-iron chairs and serves excellent food. Outside there is a large covered veranda, with cushioned wicker chairs and sofas in vivid colours, large, comfy seats and benches – it's a lovely area to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. There is also a good sized swimming pool set in the gardens.
