Vingerklip Lodge, Damaraland
One of the most dramatic rock formations in Namibia is the 35 metre high pillar of rock known as the Vingerklip or 'Rock Finger', located in spectacular Ugab Terraces of southerrn Damaraland. Overlooking the scene is the Vingerklip Lodge, imaginatively designed to blend in with the landscape. The lodge offers 11 double-unit thatched bungalows, comprising 22 rooms with ensuite bathrooms which are individually furnished and equipped. Each unit has a private terrace with commanding views. 8 of the units offer additional loft accommodation for two children each.
The lodge has 2 small swimming pools where guests can spend the lazy afternoons. There is also a Jacuzzi.
The main restaurant and bar building (below) is in an elevated position above the accommodation units.
In addition to the main restaurant there is the Eagles Nest Restaurant, high above the Lodge on the Ugab Terraces, which is only reachable via a steep metal staircase on the side of the cliff (booking is essential). The walk up to the Eagles Nest takes about 10 minutes and is not recommended for people with walking difficulties.
