Everest Summit Lodges
Everest Summit Lodges have redefined trekking and touring in the Nepal Himalaya with nine small high-quality lodges with ensuite facilities. Four of these are in the Everest foothills and are used on World Discovery's trekking holidays in the region. The lodges have been constructed with a strong awareness for the protection of the environment, local culture and people. All keep close to the concept of avoiding trails, yet lie close to the natural beauty of their environment. A mixture of solar power and electricity is used.
MONJO (20 rooms)
Located at an altitude of 2,850m in the picturesque valley of Monjo, the lodge is a comfortable five hour walk from the domestic airport of Lukla, gateway to the Everest region. The lodge overlooks the village and the narrow Dudh Koshi Valley. Thamserku Himal (6,608m) rising high up behind the lodge serves as a dreamlike backdrop.
TASHINGA (20 rooms)
This lodge has the most wonderful location amidst pine forests overlooking the Dudh Koshi Valley with breathtaking views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, the Taboche Peak and Khumbila, said to be the spiritual abode of the patron demigod of the Khumbu region.
MENDE (20 rooms)
Perched almost 3,000m above the Thamo and Thame valleys, the lodge has the most awesome views of the surrounding mountains like Kongde Ri, Thamserku, Kang Taiga, Kusum Kangru and Khumbila. With a monastery and a few monks as year-round neighbours, Mende has an amazing sense of tranquility and peace.
LUKLA (17 rooms)
Lukla, the gateway to Mt. Everest, lies at 2,743m and is located close to the airport. Spacious rooms, a lovely sunny garden and traditional interiors make for a very warm welcome.
