Stay at the excellent Atua Enkop luxury safari camps in Samburu, Nakuru and the Masai Mara.  Includes flights to and from the Masai Mara.

Recommended flight from London: Kenya Airways from London Heathrow (see below).  If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.

DAY 1 - Arrival in Nairobi.  Drive to Lake Nakuru.

On arrival in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital city, you will be met by a representative of World Discovery and taken by private transportation to your accommodation near Lake Nakuru in the Great Rift Valley, a journey of approximately 2 and a half hours.  Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at Mbweha Camp and in the evening experience an exciting 1 hour night drive.
Meals included: Lunch, dinner.

Kenya Safari Holidays - Nakuru white rhino

DAY 2 - Lake Nakuru National Park.

A full day in Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya's more underrated game parks which has a surprisingly varied and rich wildlife.  Search the magnificent yellow-barked acacia trees for the elusive napping leopards. Look for incredible wildlife, such as the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, both white and black rhino, lion, buffalo, hippo, waterbuck and baboon.  This is one of the best parks in Kenya for viewing white rhino (pictured).
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

DAY 3 - By road to Mount Kenya.

Your journey today takes you on a scenic route across country to reach the Serena Mountain Lodge, located at 2,134 metres above sea level on the lower slopes of Mount Kenya, Africa's second highest mountain.  The lodge overlooks a waterhole and salt lick where you can view elephants, buffalo and other wildlife.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Kenya Safari Holidays - Gerenuk, SamburuDAY 4 - Continue north to Samburu National Reserve.

After breakfast leave for the journey to Samburu, crossing the Equator en route at Nanyuki.  Your camp is situated on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro, Kenya's third longest river.  In the afternoon explore the Samburu National Reserve, with its many localized and rare animals, including the gerenuk (pictured left), Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich and Beisa oryx.  Samburu is justly famous for its elephants, and also boasts a prolific birdlife.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

DAY 5 - Samburu National Reserve.

Morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu National Reserve.  There may also be the opportunity to visit a nearby Samburu village.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

DAY 6 - Fly to the Masai Mara.

Your destination today is the jewel in Africa's crown, the Masai Mara, host to the most spectacular array of wildlife on earth, constantly changing as the plains game follows ancient migration routes under the watchful eyes of the lion, leopard and cheetah that prey on the vulnerable. Two nights will be spent at the small Mara Ngenche Camp, with just 10 luxury ensuite tents located at the confluence of the Mara and Talek Rivers. Your flight from Samburu will take just over an hour.  Gameviewing today should hopefully give you the opportunity of seeing all the animals known as the “Big Five”.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

DAYS 7 AND 8 - The Masai Mara.

Game viewing is never dull in the Mara, and patience is often rewarded with unique sightings, such as a pride of lion stalking their prey, a solitary leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree or a herd of elephant. Spend an exciting day driving across the limitless plains in search of wildlife in one of Kenya's most spectacular areas. This vast, open space is like nowhere else on earth; merely to be here is to be inspired.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner each day.

Recommended Reading.

THE MARSH LIONS by Brian Jackman with Jonathan and Angela Scott.  Reissued by Bradt in February 2012 (originally published in 1982), this is the classic account of life in the Masai Mara.  Thoroughly recommended.

DAY 9 - Return to Nairobi.  Depart.

Rise early for another morning game drive. In the afternoon fly back to Nairobi Wilson Airport (approximately 50 minutes).  Enjoy an early dinner at the world-famous Carnivore Restaurant, followed by your transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

At the end of a busy schedule of gameviewing on safari, why not spend a few days of relaxation at one of our selected beach resorts?
