British Airways - daily flights direct to Buenos Aires from London HeathrowRecommended flight from London: British Airways from London Heathrow (see below). If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.

DAY 1 - Arrive Buenos Aires.

On arrival in Buenos Aires you will be met by a representative of World Discovery outside immigration and customs. You will then be taken by private car direct to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free.

DAY 2 - Buenos Aires.

Your World Discovery Argentina holiday begins after breakfast when you are collected by your private guide for a morning tour of Buenos Aires.  You will see the beautiful parks and gardens of Palermo, the famous La Boca district with its brightly painted houses in primary colours, the old quarters of San telmo, the Government House and the Rocoleta Cemetery with its elaborate statues and marble sarcophagi, including the tomb of Eva Peron ('Evita').  The afternoon is free.  In the evening there is the option of taking in a Tango Show with dinner.
Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 3 – Fly to Trelew.  Continue to Puerto Madryn.

In the morning take the 2 hour flight to Trelew, located at the northern tip of Patagonia, where you will be met and taken to the coastal town of Puerto Madryn.  This fishing port, gateway to the Valdes Peninsula, was founded by Welsh settlers in 1886.  The rest of the day is at leisure.
Meals included: Breakfast.

Argentina Holidays - Valdes Peninsula - Whale-watchingDAY 4 - The Valdes Peninsula.

Today you will enjoy a full day tour of the Valdes Peninsula, Argentina's premier wildlife destination, home to sea lions, elephant seals, guanacos, rheas, Magellanic penguins and numerous seabirds, and recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.  The Valdes Peninsula is especially well-known as a breeding ground for Southern Right Whales (September to November*).  Short whale-watching cruises take place on a regular basis from Puerto Piramides during the season.
Meals included: Breakfast.

* The breeding season actually begins in June, but the cruise featured on this itinerary (below) does not operate during the southern winter months of June, July and August).

DAY 5 - Punta Tombo.

Full day excursion to Punta Tombo, a protected area which is home to Continental South America's largest penguin nesting ground, and which also attracts a wealth of other birdlife including king and rock cormorants, giant petrels, kelp gulls, flightless steamer ducks and black oystercatchers.
Meals included: Breakfast.

Argentina Holidays - El Calafate - On the deck of the Santa Cruz

DAY 6 - Fly to El Calafate.  Embark on the Santa Cruz.

Fly to El Calafate in Southern Patagonia today.  In the evening transfer to your cruise ship at Punta Bandera on Lago Argentina for the 'Spirit of the Glaciers' cruise through some of the most stunning scenery on the planet.
Meals included: Breakfast, dinner.

DAY 7 - Cruising on Lago Argentina.

In the morning sail through the 'Boca del Diablo' (Devil's Mouth), the narrowest part of Lago Argentina, to reach the Upsala Glacier.  Depending on the quantity and layout of the ice floes, navigation will allow an impressive approach to one of the two fronts of this glacier, which is 4 kilometres in width, with walls of up to 60 metres.  Around midday you will reach the spectacular Spegazzini Glacier, with walls up to 135 metres (the highest in the region).  Enjoy lunch at this wonderful spot, watching the frequent 'calving' as huge slabs of ice collapse into the lake.  In the afternoon disembark from the Santa Cruz in the quiet bay of Puesto Las Vacas for a scenic walk.  Overnight at bahia Toro.
Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Argentina Holidays - El Calafate - Perito Moreno Glacier

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch.
