A unique itinerary that highlights the traditional lifestyles and culture of the Namibian peoples
This private guided safari will give you an insight into Namibia as it was before the arrival of the Europeans in the 19th century. Learn about the Herero, Himba, and Damara peoples, who still retain many of their age-old traditions, languages and beliefs; visit their homesteads and discover their skill at producing a wide variety of crafts - basket-weaving, jewellery and beadwork, leather goods, woodwork, pottery and stone carvings - as well as sampling their homely food and discovering how to differentiate between edible, poisonous and medicinal plants. There's also the option of an add-on to spend time with the world-famous San Bushmen, whose history goes back thousands of years. Your final night in Namibia, en route to Windhoek for your homeward flight, is at the popular Okonjima Lodge, home of the Africat Foundation.
Recommended flight from London: South African Airways from London Heathrow via Johannesburg (see below). If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.
