This is a holiday which should appeal to lovers of Nature, especially those interested in birding. The Keoladeo Ghana National Park at Bharatpur (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the National Chambal Sanctuary south-east of Agra, are two of India's top birding destinations, but also offer other wildlife. Chambal was in fact established to help reveive the endangered Gharial (fish-eating crocodile), which had been decimated by indiscriminate poaching. Your accommodation is in a 19th century Maharajah's palace in Bharatpur, and at a delightful family-run eco-lodge beside the beautiful Chambal River
Recommended flight from London: British Airways from London Heathrow (see below). If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.

BATESHWAR - Animal Fair - October 2017
Why not time your holiday to coincide with the annual Animal Fair at Bateshwar? From 15 to 22 October this year, the open areas around the temple complex play host to an annual animal fair, the origins of which stretch into antiquity. The fair coincides with the most auspicious period for praying at Bateshwar and is an important fixture for saints, sadhus, tradesmen and villagers.
En route from Delhi to Bharatpur on DAY 3 you may wish to take a detour to explore the little-visited but fascinating Deeg Palace (left), an 18th century stronghold of the local Jat rulers. This extensive complex is located just 30 kilometres north of Bharatpur.
