Recommended flight from London: EgyptAir from London Heathrow (see below). If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.
For a detailed day-by-day description, with a summary of what's included, please click on the PDF (above right)
DAY 1 – Arrival in Cairo.
DAY 3 – Morning visit to the world-famous Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. Afternoon free. (B)
DAY 8 – Disembark. Optional excursion by air to Abu Simbel. Depart. (B)
We recommend the services of EgyptAir from London
Heathrow. Flights are non-stop and have a choice of classes. Current
timings (subject to possible change) are as follows:
Heathrow/Cairo. Depart at 17.05; arrive Cairo at 23.50
Cairo/Heathrow. Depart at 17.45; arrive Heathrow at 21.05
British Airways also have direct flights from London Heathrow but their return flight from Cairo is early in the morning and you would need to spend an additional overnight in a Cairo hotel at the end of your holiday.
Flights within Egypt
With EgyptAir you can include the Cairo/Luxor and Aswan/Cairo flights on the same ticket as the international flights, using their Multi Destination option (we will advise you which flights you need to book to fit it with the cruise schedules). This is generally the least expensive option. If you fly on British Airways (or another non-direct airline) on the international sectors you would need to book the domestic flights separately. The current cost is £228 per person.
You can book the international and domestic flights yourself, or alternatively World Discovery can book the flights for you (we levy a service charge of £25 per person for this service).

The sample tour includes 3 days in Cairo (room and breakfast) before flying to Upper Egypt for the cruise (with all meals and excursions), as well as private transfers on arrival and departure in each city. We are happy to add further arrangements both before and/or after the cruise itself, in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan or perhaps one of Egypt's top Red Sea beach resorts. We are happy to advise and help you create your ideal holiday - see below for some suggestions.
EXTEND YOUR STAY
Popular extensions to the 'Nile Odyssey' tour include the following:
Cairo has so many sights worth seeing, particularly in the Old City, that you may wish to consider staying an extra day (or two!) in order to be able to fit in all the places that interest you. During your stay there are a selection of superb optional excursions in and around the city, which we can pre-book for you. These include ancient Memphis and Saqqara, the latter famous for its unique Step Pyramid, constructed in the 27th century BC., and a choice of several tours in the Old City - The Citadel of Saladin, Mosque of Mohamed Ali and the Khanal-Khalili bazaar, Islamic Cairo, including Ibn Tulun Mosque and the Gayer-Anderson House or The Coptic Museum and the Gayer-Anderson House
SOUND AND LIGHT SHOW AT THE PYRAMIDS
During your time in Cairo you will have the opportunity to enjoy an evening performance of the spectacular Sound and Light Performance at Giza, featuring the Pyramids and Sphinx.
LUXOR PRE- OR POST-CRUISE ACCOMMODATION
You may wish to spend some time in Luxor before or after the cruise. We recommend the Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa, located on the banks of the Nile close to the magnificent Temple of Karnak, or the venerable Winter Palace Hotel. Please ask for a quotation.
ASWAN, GATEWAY TO NUBIA
Aswan is the ideal place for a few days of relaxation at the end of your holiday, giving you time to reflect on the many wonders you have seen in your journey along the Nile. We recommend the excellent Movenpick Resort, located on Elephantine Island and offering a regular shuttle boat service to the Aswan corniche, or you may prefer the nostalgia of the historic Old Cataract Hotel.
THE OBEROI SAHL HASHEESH
Head for the Red Sea coast for a stay at the Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh, a secluded haven boasting white sands, aquamarine waters and vibrantly-hued marine life. This is in our opinion simply Egypt's top resort hotel. Other options are also available.
