Discover the magic of the land of Malbec - the wineries of Mendoza where the best Argentine wines are born. Experience the glorious climate and scenery at the foot of the High Andes - Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas at 6,960.8 m/22,837 ft is just down the road - whilst staying in a lovely boutique hotel with its own well-stocked wine cellar. You will visit a selection of wineries in the company of experts and enjoy superb gourmet meals.
DAY 1 - Arrive Mendoza. 'The Vines of Mendoza'.
On arrival in Mendoza you will be met by a representative of World Discovery and taken by private car to your hotel. Today you will visit the The Vines of Mendoza to enjoy a wine-tasting talk which will pepare you for the next few days in this beautiful region. You will learn the basics of sensory evaluation while savouring glasses of Torrontes, Bonarda and Malbec varietals. At the end of the class you will receive a diploma. Return to your hotel.
DAY 2 - Agrelo.
You will be taken after breakfast to the Agrelo region, about 30km from Mendoza. Here you will visit the Catena Zapata winery, with its striking Mayan-influenced architecture (pictured); a vareity of wines are produced - Cabernet, Syrah, Cabernet/Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and the award-winning D.V. Catena Malbec. Visit the vineyards and anjoy a talk with the producers. Continue to the Achaval-Ferrer boutique winery, whose winemaker has created a limited number of high quality wines. Experience wine-tasting straight from the barrels. Today we have included lunch at Bodega Melipal ; you might want to restrain yourself, however, as tonight there's an included dinner at the gourmet restaurant of the Clos de Chacras!

DAY 3 - Further visits in Mendoza.
Today begins with a visit to the renowned Luigi Bosca winery, where Malbec is again the star, and where you will learn about the history of the immigrants who developed wine in this region. Carmelo Patti (pictured) is a creator of cult wines and his boutique winery is located in Lujan de Cuyo. A pioneer of growing Malbec in Argentina, he produces some of the best wines in the country. The tour and lunch at Bodega Dolium is a memorable experience, shared with the owner, the winemaker and the winery staff. In the evening, for those who wish, you can participate in a short workshop on cigars, learning about their creation and how they can be combined with chocolate and a range of spirits.

DAY 4 - Depart.
Morning free. In the afternoon transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

A deposit of £250 per person is required at the time of booking. The balance of the price for your Argentina holiday must be paid at least 8 weeks before your departure date.
