Sednaya and Maalula
PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR
Begin with a visit to the small mountain town of Sednaya to visit the Greek Orthodox convent which contains a famous icon of the Virgin Mary claimed to have been painted by St Luke. At the time of the Crusades, Christian pilgrims considered Sednaya second in importance only to Jerusalem. Continue to the predominantly Greek Orthodox village of Maalula (pictured right) where Aramaic, the language of Christ, is still spoken. You will spend time in the Monastery and Church of St Sergius; built in 325 AD, this is one of the oldest churches in the world. There is a splendid collection of 17th century icons.
Includes private transportation, guide and entrance fees.
