Overnight Sleeper - First Class
The overnight sleeper Express to Ubon Ratchathani leaves Hualampong Station, Bangkok, at 20.30 and arrives at Ubon Ratchathani at 07.25 next morning (the service is often subject to minor delays as this is a standard local train, not a luxury tourist train). Intermediate stations include Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Nakhon Ratchasima (Khorat), Buriram, Surin and Si Saket.
From Ubon Ratchathani the overnight Express leaves at 18.30, arriving at Bangkok at 05.50 next morning.
Sleeping berths are available in 1st and 2nd class. The World Discovery prices are based on air-conditioned 1st Class compartments (subject to availability). The 1st class sleeping compartments are lockable and have 2-berths, a wash basin and a stow-away table. Clean bedding, soap and towels are provided. The seats are in 'seat mode' to begin with and are converted to beds (one upper and one lower) by the train porter in the late evening. There is a toilet at the end of the corridor which has a cold water shower.
There is a restaurant car on board but the menus are not normally avialble in English and the food can be particularly spicy for European tastes. English is not usually spoken by the train staff.
